February 17, 2021 / KANATA-CARLETON — Despite the ongoing COVID restrictions, MPP Merrilee Fullerton continues to engage fully with the constituents in her community. Through Christmas and into 2021, she heartily embraces the “shop local” campaign which supports local business and keeps jobs in Kanata and West Carleton. Here she is touring Carp businesses with Carp BIA Chair Jennifer Stewart.
The Ontario Small Business Support Grant is available to support local businesses which are so essential to our local economy. The grant helps eligible businesses that have faced restrictive operations due to COVID-19. A business may receive a minimum of $10,000 and up to $20,000 to help defray operational costs, taxes, energy costs or PPE’s for employees. Assistance is available and may be found here:
In December 2020, the Ontario Government released a long-term care staffing plan. In Ottawa the initiative, is providing $ 2.4 million to train up to 300 personal support workers for positions in our community’s long term care homes. Training is being offered at no cost to accepted applicants at Willis College as part of a pilot scholarship program.
